An often heard comment by the 'novice/beginning' collector is... "a brass cash register
is A Brass Cash Register... IS A BRASS CASH REGISTER". COULDN'T BE FURTHER from the 'truth' folks! ALMOST
ENTIRELY... the really 'valuable' cash registers are either of the earlier solid wooden cabinet era or the solid ornate
brass cabinet machines. From that point on... it's ALL ABOUT 'model RARITY, condition(appearance & working),
completeness AND 'originality'. A 'rare' model... missing a number of parts... is easily 'tossed off' this
'throne' however. The 'rarer' the model... the greater the price machines demand. It stands to reason...
if there are 'less than a dozen known to exist' of a particular model... THAT model/machine is going to PROBABLY demand
a 'premium' price... based upon the above. Catagorically... the small 'candy store size' machines dominate the 'rare'
classification. As for the 'sheet-metal' cabinet machines that followed the 'brassie(s)'... with the outbreak
of WWI (brass was needed for 'shell casings') they are of little value outside of 'parts' and practical serviceability.
